Timber!

Cal Fire estimated the tree to be 140 years, 60 feet, 36" diameter at cut line, 10 minutes. Felling a Dead Oak Tree, New Years Day 2011. Thanks to Rick Garrett, our fab neighbor and skilled feller.
Cause of death currently unknown. CalFire estimated the age of the tree to 40 years - we think it's older. There was a golden dust on the tree two months after the tree died. The death of the tree was less than 3 months.
I have recovered worms from the interior of the tree...need to identify.
CalFire said we can burn the wood as is, but do not allow it to leave the city - so we don't contribute to the spread of whatever is killing these Oak Trees.
