A few weeks ago, I talked to a funeral director who reminded me that the HST/GST now applies to funerals. When I asked him if he planned to pass on the costs, he laughed at me. And that, I suspect, is the response you'll get from many business owners.

Why would they pass on the savings when it increases profits and therefore the bottom line? And how will placing an increase burden on Ontarians benefit the economy? Spending is a key part of economic growth but if you don't have cash because it's being eaten away through HST costs on gasoline/home heating costs, etc, how can you possibly spend to drive up the TSX?

Exactly!!!!! Read the May 5 Montreal Gazette and feel your BP rise ! "Ontario's New Democratic Party released figures showing the new tax will cost consumers between $4.7 billion and $5.9 billion annually. That costing comes one day after Premier Dalton McGuinty admitted families will be hit by a tax increase when the 13 per cent HST takes effect July 1." Oh, he now admits it's going to cost us money. Your damn right it's going to cost us money and just wait and see what happens next.
