Plane crashes into Austin Building

Authorities are investigating a plane crash into a seven-story office building in north Austin.

Black smoke was coming from the Echelon complex, located at 943 Research Boulevard near Highway 183 and the south loop 360 interchange.

Dawn Clopton, a division chief with the Austin Fire Department, said two people from the building are unaccounted for. She said it was a small private plane that crashed.

A witness told KVUE that it didn't appear the plane, a Piper 150, was having any trouble before it crashed.

KVUEs Noelle Newton reports most of the windows of the building are blown out and that people are being evacuated.

There is so far no word on how many people have been injured.

Traffic in the area is being diverted.

Officials said there were reports an FBI field office was housed in the complex, but it was not hit.

My early guess.......surprise, surprise...someone of middle eastern origin doing what his religion requires him/her to do.
