  • It is hard to watch such hypocrisy: How many illegal abortions does the country have? How many teenage pregnancies, how many personal female tragedies of single mothers? And, moreover, it is men, predominantly, discussing this matter - on an overpopulated planet. IF we valued human life as much as these people claim, we would see to a stable, loving, healthy background for the children in existence! Once born, they often become the weakest part of our society - abused, maltreated...Why is that?

  • All situations of unwanted pregnancy don't fall into a neat grouping. A rape victim who becomes pregnant after such a vile and repulsive crime and is subsequently suicidal is not at all comparable to an abortion "free-for-all". Abortion in the first instance is already provided for in the Constitution under Article 40.3.3. The Dail can't introduce abortion wholesale. There must be a referendum. Only O'Keeffe and Cahill appear to have any idea of the law and are attacked for their knowledge.

  • @ Paddyslippers: And for the sake of the protection of unborn life, that's the way it should stay. No one has the right to take another persons life. Every care, help and compassion needs to be afforded to women who find themselves confronted with unwanted pregnancies. This should be the duty of a humane and just society. Actions have consequences and killing can never be considered a solution to a problem

  • amazing how one question can change your vote! FF FG stamped it out straight away.. if we vote either of these parties into government nothing (NOTHING) will change!
