the baffel is 3 things 1 a quieter 2 it arestes spikes 3 it filters the exuast and if it doesnt it ruins the bike

@MrMotoMan271 In some states yes, it is there incase the backfire shoots sparks or flames and the metal mesh part catches it before it goes out. They're there to prevent fires.
