A great Dixieland rendition of a Chopin piano piece. This is from the movie "Still Breathing" with Brendan Fraser and Joanna Going, shot on location in San Antonio - the band (except for the Tuba player) is a wonderful local group in San Antonio. If you haven't seen the film, do so, it's a little gentle little gem.

  • Many thanks for uploading this video. I play the piano, and I've listened a lot of music for the instrument, and I believe chopin's berceuse is on of the best pieces ever written in music history. I remember the fist time I watched the film I was marveled in this scene when the band plays this fantastic adaptation.. Since then I've trying to get the full arrangement.

  • @fetonegro thanks and you are welcome. as another poster 'ode2pops' mentioned, the soundtrack still might be available somewhere like ebay, I haven't tried to find it yet but I will. I agree this is one of the most wonderful piano pieces ever, I have download several different artist versions, one of my favorites is by Idil Biret, which i was a the background to a simple video I also posted here Called evening Sky Train.

btw, I transposed the opening melody so I could play on my sax.

  • @fetonegro also, you can find the entire arrangement posted on youtube with the name; Jazz Berceuse. (youtube doesn't seem to allow posting of links).

  • Pianist John Sheridan is responsible for this marvelous adaptation and arrangement. In the 24 years that John was on the Jim Cullum Jazz band, he contributed somewhere in the neighborhood of 1,000 arrangements for the band. John is truly a world-class musician.

  • @Ode2Pops Good to know Ode2Pops this truly is a marvelous arrangement, I wish there were a longer version.

  • @zootcarey I found it!! Many thanks for the tip.

  • Sorry about the duplicate comment. They don't get posted right away and I thought I'd done something wrong so I entered it again. The full arrangement of this piece can be heard on the soundtrack CD. It was a limited edition and no longer in print, but copies can be found on Ebay.
