One of my all time favourite places! We launched at Eyemouth, approx 2 miles south, because S.t Abbs has limited parking and gets busy very quickly as soon as the sun comes out and the wind stops howling. The resident seals are kept here by people feeding them mackerel, which is bought from a nearby kiosk ,then dangled above the seals by use of a cane, string and bulldog clip to hold said mackerel. The sight of a 250kg bull seal, launching itself polaris rocket style is indeed impressive. The water quality at S.t Abbs and the surrounding area can be sensational, and it is legendary in the diving fraternity, but there is more to it than that. All the fantastic scenery you see above water is replicated below, but seems even better, due to marine growth, flora and fauna. All this improves the trip for me ,knowing what lurks beneath, often the water is clear enough to give you a tempting glimpse. Turning the corner, after the lighthouse takes you to Pettyco wick, and the view west is magnifico. This is Fast Castle, and is one of the wildest areas on the British mainland with no road access until Pease Bay. On the return journey see if you can see the "Gorilla leaning forwards giving a thumbs up" about 6 min in.

  • @GBPaddling Not seen any chimps fingers when kayaking yet there's always a chance. Lol

  • @onlywhenpissed Or Bum Cigars.......

  • And the monkey paddling the Rockpool ;)

  • @onlywhenpissed Insulting don't you think? When the word is 'Primate' ha ha.....

  • I saw the gorilla on the second take :)

  • @onlywhenpissed Think you're the only person who has seen the Gorilla, certainly the only one who has commented, isn't that spooky? A walk on the cliff tops here is a must as well, you can get very close to the nesting birds, without disturbing them.

  • @Sugarfoot108 But not on a bank holiday!! The place is a total nightmare on a bank holiday and a perfect example of a place suffering in it's own success.A unique little place, that is best visited on a quiet day(try choosing one) to fully appreciate.Early evening can be nice in summer.

  • Great Vid again. I must get up that way for a change and get some diving in as well kayak the coast.

  • Did you see the"Gorilla?" nobody has said so yet,if you're diving, have a go at "Tye's Tunnel"n.r the lighthouse it is Spectacular.

  • Sorry, mistake here, the comment was about Berwick on Tweed, being in England, not St Abbs.Oh yes Eyemouth and St Abbs are certainly Scottish, and "Feel" Scottish,Fantastic stretch of coastline, need to explore further South to Berwick, and further North to Pease Bay.
