Dear petclark1,

According to accounts posted on the Net, Dusty Springfield was at the San Remo music festival.

She heard Donaggio and Miller sing Io Che Non Vivo and was so impressed she immediately asked her manager to have English lyrics written for her to sing.

The rest is history.

It's too bad that the people managing Jody Miller didn't have her record an English version of the song - You Don't Have To Say You Love Me - before Dusty came out with her version. It might have been more successful than the country songs they had her recording.

Dear MrMerritton,

I agree. It is a shame. Jody MIller apparently had pretty much the same vocal skills as Dusty Springfield.

Had she recorded an English version, she might well have become as hot a property as Springfield.

The fickle finger of fate!

Before I stumbled upon Jody singing Home Of The Brave - here on You Tube - the only recording of hers I knew was Queen Of The House. Her rendition of Home Of The Brave impressed me enough to check her other videos here at You Tube, and now I'm quite a fan, belatedly.

Exactly! There were always two versions, and sometimes the person who actually wrote and composed the tune... lost out when singing it!

Oh! My goodness! There is the voice with no name that I remembered!

Obrigada, Paulo, por mandar-me esta! Nao, eu nao me penteava assim, pois o meu cabelo vinha quase a cintura! Abracos!

Thanks for posting, mitoplus76!
