When is the novel first published? In mid '70's Indonesia has a film called "Surat Undangan" ("The Wedding Invitation") which story really, really, really similar to this. The only difference is the ending, where the Indonesian version ends when the guy decided to marry the amputee-sister, and the heart-broken-younger sister decided to marry the older guy.

The movie has become one of the most renowned classics. I don't know whether it's a legal adaptation or not.

Dreams Link was first published in 1973. I'm not sure when "Surat Undangan" was written, but it probably was released in 1975 (according to online sources).

Yeah, it's a shame that a movie that is named "one of the best Indonesian Classics" is apparently taken from someone other country's classic movie.

Now I kinda hope that the '75's Indonesian adaptation was legal, though. I love Chiung Yao's works so much!

Oh, btw, there's also another Indonesian movie "adapted" (if you don't want to call it plagiarism) Dream Link, called "Rahasia Gadis". Only the names are changed from "Surat Undangan"

Do u know the chinese name of Kevin Lin? I saw Kevin Lin and Xiao Chiang drama on 1999. Does anyone know what is the name of the drama? It's about a twin. Kevin Lin act as twins but one of the twin got into accident and became blind. The accident caused by Xiao Chiang. Does anyone know about the drama?
