That same night, when everyone was making a fuss over Krista's dad and telling them how sorry they were, Salvy's brother Paul came over and said, "What happened? Did someone make a joke about her dead mom?"

"No," Krista said, "my dead dad."

His face, too, went pale.

And both of the brothers felt sorry for her. Both of the brothers that I had MY eyes on. Now they were all over her. Is that what it would take? To have a dead parent? Is that why she was getting all the boys, because her dad was dead?

I really just... I didn't get it.

Remember the boy I said was reeeally cute, and Krista got with him? You know, the one who started a lot of trouble?

Well, he got a girlfriend four days after getting with Krista.

But that was okay, because the boy's best friend--Leo--had a thing for her, and vice versa.

I'm not saying that he was her rebound from the kid, because Krista had always liked Leo but... she was moving fast. And she was gonna become a whore, and I didn't like it. So I told her, and she freaked out.

"Presley," she snapped, "you're talking about me? Are you serious? Look at you! You've already got a list of boys you're gonna get with, and you're still a prude mother fucking bitch! So shut up and don't even say I'm becoming a whore."

Okay, I'll admit it: I did have a list. But Gary was supposed to deprude me when he came back from the shore, and this other boy (Gino), and Paul. But I didn't want Paul or Gino to deprude me, so I told them I would get with them when I was depruded.

But guess what else? Now Paul has been talking to Krista, and he's head-over-fucking-heels for her. See what I mean? She gets all of my boys! I don't get it! She almost had Gino, too, but she didn't really want him so he backed off.

At the same time, Krista was head over heels for Leo. They talked every day, and were planning on getting with each other. And she kept stringing Paul along, not making a decision between the two.

So, of course, Paul got sick of it and forgot about her.

She didn't seem too fazed by it. Instead, she went and got with Leo, acting as if Paul never meant anything to her. Thank God.

We were starting school soon, too. Oh, and I was dating Gary by now.

But I'm NOT getting with him. I don't care what he says. It sounds fucking nasty. (Yes, I'm still prude. Still. Surprising, right? That's what everyone says when I tell them. Probably 'cause I'm too pretty to be prude. Or something like that.) And anyway, everyone keeps telling me to get with Gary. So I won't.

Maybe I want the attention. That's what Krista keeps telling me, but she's being a bitch lately. Probably got her panties in a bunch.
