"Bidin' My Time," written by George and Ira Gershwin for the 1930 musical, Girl Crazy, is from Joni James Sings the Gershwins released on MGM in 1964. In 2003 the album became available on CD on the Collectors' Choice label, a subsidiary of Emi-Capitol, combined with the album, My Favorite Things. Paul Smith did the arranging, conducting, and piano playing.

  • She shore was a purty lil thing and a fine voice to boot!

  • Once more, Fegan (John) made me aware of a song that I'd never heard of before. But Joni always has had a SPECIAL feel for Gershwin material...she once more soars musically with this one...maybe her closeness to the material is due in part to her being once being Ira Gershwin's next door neighbor! Thanks to Fegen & naturally many thanks to catman for sharing this treasure of a tune with us! :)

  • Thanks for sharing.

  • She gives this evergreen a different tempo and twist from the usual renditions. I go way back with this one.

  • The arrangement and the singing

by Joni on this song are both

    wonderful.
