Halloween at the Roach Palace

The start of the night before it got too dark to make a video. I didn't know it for sure at the time, but the decorated Reliant Wagon turned out to be a huge hit with almost everyone who stopped. And we had a good turnout, probably at least 150-200 kids stopped by.

We also put out REAL oil lanterns, some of them vintage and others much newer. (I believe it is still possible to buy the classic Dietz brand lantern new. We have some new ones, and a few vintage ones, all of which are fully functional.) There's also a propane lantern that uses propane torch canisters, but some thoughtless person busted the mantles and it was too late for me to fix it.

I didn't end up doing much with the computer controlled X-10 lighting stuff because I ran out of time. Bizzarefurhead and I were going to make a backlit ghost with the help of some kraft paper and an overhead projector. We ran out of time for that too, and weren't sure that our old overhead projector would run safely for a few hours.

The screensaver comes from Microsoft Plus! for Windows 95 and is running on an IBM PS/2 Model 77 Bermuda with a Piper Research SoundPiper Microchannel sound card.

Nothing interesting happened on the cameras, perhaps the tricksters knew they were there. Oh well, there is always next year!

Oh, the baseball bat wasn't out for very long, and was more of a joke than anything else. Nobody was going to get conked on the head unless they did something REALLY bad.
