RIP Sophie Lancaster..

Sophie Lancaster (November 26th, 1986 -- August 24, 2007) was a British woman who was brutally attacked with her boyfriend, Robert Maltby while walking through Stubbylee Park in Bacup, Rossendale in Lancashire. As a result of her severe head injuries she went into a coma, never regained consciousness and later died. The police suggested the attack was possibly caused by the couple wearing gothic fashion and being members of the goth subculture.

While returning home, Lancaster and Maltby were subjected to a "vicious mob attack" from "a large group of people" between 01:10 hours and 01:20 hours on Saturday, 11 August 2007, at the skate park area of Stubby Lee Park, Bacup.[2] The couple were walking home and came across a group of teenagers at the entrance to the park. The group followed them but there was no trouble till some of them suddenly assaulted Robert Maltby without provocation. When he was knocked unconscious the gang attacked Sophie Lancaster, who was trying to protect him by cradling him in her arms. One witness a 15-year-old boy, told police: "They were running over and just kicking her in the head and jumping up and down on her head."

Yeah - People are trying to get this type of crime made illegal, but they cant due to not being able to catorgise it? Something to do with theres too many groups? like goths, emos, skaters e.t.c.. i think its totally wrong tbh. Its like just becuase theres so many - shouldnt it make it MORE of a matter to make illegal?! But ah well im just one voice that dosent get heard lol!

Thank you for posting this. RIP Sophie Lancaster. I'm a Goth so I have to deal with being discriminated against all the time. It's very assholish to judge someone for the way they dress or the music they listen to.
