My father talking to a neighbour about his Aunt. She passed away recently at the grand old age of 103.

People always ask what the accent is like where I come from.

  • I'm from dublin i understood it perfectly.

  • @3conormccabe the dublin accent can be hard too, im from a culchie part of tyrone and we say things like bey instead of boy and och well u know urself sir and u would find it hard to understand

  • Haha this is epic, I'm from Dublin and can only understand snippets, can't imagine what a foreigner might think of it

  • Are you sure this isn't the Irish language?

  • is it like german/irish?

  • My mums side is from kerry and my dads is from Dublin :)

  • My mums side of my family is Irish, I can hardly understand my Grandmother ahaha :) Love it all the same though

  • Is this even in English?

  • It does at least to my ear sound like it definitely contains a Scandanavian intonation to it. I took Swedish in university and the thing that stuck in my mind was the intonation of her inflected speech which was oddly a bit like this.

  • I dunno if it is a good sign that I can understan everything they are sayin! Me nan and grandad talk like this and so does everyone around!
