A 20 year ban on ivory trade is what Kenya will be seeking at the convention on International Trade in endangered species or cites which opened in Doha, Qatar. More than 175 nations are gathered in Doha to discuss new conservation measures on a range of issues including poaching of ivory in Africa, trade in polar bear skins and ban on certain endangered marine species. Forestry and Wildlife Minister Noah Wekesa is leading the Kenyan delegation after President Mwai Kibaki exempted him from the travel ban on Ministers and Assistant Ministers.
