@polskich You talk rubbish, look at the world championship results going back to the 50's, a hell of a lot of British machinery were winning race after race and championships.
The company Veloce were outstanding engineers wiling to try different and innovative ideas, not merely copy.
They were smaller than the BMW as were all brit bikes & handled better. That said I always wanted a BMW (too expensive) but the Police turned them down because of a vibration problem with the flat twin or so I have been told.
The Roarer was never fully developed before WW2 stopped progress. However it did reach 130mph in early tests - target design speed was to be around 145mph. It is a twin cylinder supercharged engine of a very novel design the aim was to beat the supercharged BMWs & Gilera Rondines then dominating racing.
@polskich Correct, as bable666 said WW2 stopped development. WW2 stopped everything, armaments were top priority.

The Roarer's 2 cylinder engine had twin contra-rotating crankshafts combined by gears and a shaft drive.
