I'm slowly starting to come to the conclusion that no form of government will survive on a large scale. Not fascism, or capitalism, or socialism, or communism or any other form of government will survive in America, because the country's too big. It's too easily corruptible, and the people have too indirect of a say. Laws under wide gov. are blankets that warm some and smother others; it's unavoidable. We must split into states and get intimately involved with our own hometown governments.

@matthewmcclureross I believe that there is enough good people in this world to constantly make it a better place. And I also believe that the bad people will do everything to look like a good people, just to get votes. Also, the bad people love using good and naive people as their tools.

@krizzz100100 I think it's wonderful that you believe you have a moral duty to support the poor. If only everybody thought that way we would not need a government at all. Unfortunately though we don't live in a perfect world and, I think, most people given the choice would just look after themselves. This is why I support socialism, I actually do think that people should be made to share a large proportion of their wealth to support those less fortunate. This is where we differ.

@matthewmcclureross And your blind neighbour too... And that lady that never walks on the street after it gets dark... Why are you still talking about the amount of taxes? Of course you will have to pay some tax. I'm stressing the purpose on which the tax is spent. Protecting Freedom. The rest we can deal with, if you are good and caring person you really can make a difference yourself, without any help from the thieves from the government.

@matthewmcclureross Then we are in a fundamental disagreement. To me Freedom is of the highest value. You seem to be in opposition to that therefore you lean towards slavery. In addition, I think it's MY OWN moral duty to support poor and I don't believe that "delegating" duty this would ever work. As for the exploitation - if this is illegal exploitation that's what we need the good courts system for. On the other hand "Volenti non fir iniuria".

@krizzz100100 Street lighting is a classic example because if I lived next door to you and paid for a street light outside my house, you would get the benefit of it, therefore the cost of it needs to be shared out between everyone. Also the things you mentioned like the police and border controls will always have to be paid for by everybody contributing i.e. taxes, no matter what system of government you have

@krizzz100100 Well that's one opinion, I would say that the aim of a government should be the oppoiste of that in fact - it should be to protect the weak/poor from exploitation by the strong/rich. However my point was that some things will always need to be paid for by taxes i.e. money that everybody pays into the pot to be shared out and paid for things we all use.
