Elena Desserich was diagnosed with DIPG, a rare and uncurable brain cancer. She was only 5 when she was diagnosed. She became an angel on August 11, 2007, when she was only 6 years old. Even though Elena never knew her prognosis, her parents believe that she did know. Elena hid many notes for her family- her mom Brooke, her dad Keith, and her little sister Gracie- all over the house for them to find when she was gone. Elena was truely an amazing kid. She is greatly missed and will never be forgotten! Elena's journey was documented in the book "Notes Left Behind" by her parents.
