Marin Alsop was the first woman to be appointed principal conductor of a major British orchestra, the Bournemouth Symphony. Now she's repeated the feat on the other side of the Atlantic, having just been appointed music director of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.
Her arrival, however, has been greeted by controversy, as the musicians are divided on the question of whether they actually want her. BBC's Jenni Murraywill be asks her if she's looking forward to the new job and why she loves new works, such as those of John Corigliano and Kurt Weill.

I agree! There should be more female conductors like her that are ready to step up to the plate and show the world their talent!
