Another great flight from a homemade hot air balloon - the "candle" was made from cloth soaked in wax and the balloon was made from 0.31mil Painters Plastic. It unexpectedly took on the shape of a UFO once it got into the air.

  • 40 minutes is long - I can imagine you would have to make it big to get a long burn time like that. Making them lightweight just takes the right materials and the right sized candle - I have updated my web page with instructions for building the candles I usually use (url at the end of the video). That design works for fairly small balloons (smaller than the one in this video)

  • Cool! I use painters plastic too, but I always make mine huge because I have problems making them light weighted so I go big instead. I also attach small flashing firecrackers that alights as the waxpaper burns 'down' - aproximatly 5 min after takeoff - 40 min+ burn time.
