the rest is simple, throw all the card towards the window to attract attention and cover up the fact those cards are already there at the same time.

so... sum up:

1st: set up cards on window.

2nd: force pick

3rd: throw cards

important: make sure audience do not pick up cards and check, cuz there will be another 6 of spades on the floor, or to avoid that, palm the card when you get it from audience and hide it.

It is possible but how it's done in this scene is very observable.

@ldouglas956 That trick is possible - but it requires someone else - David Blaine and others do this trick on the street with cards appearing behind shop windows or inside locked cars. But they need the help of someone else.

as you can see the card he picked is spaced out from other cards, it is believed that 70% of the people would pick the card that is spaced out from other cards, but not guaranteed at all, and when people know you are performing magic tricks they tend to pick card from a random spot more. So the chance of failing is much higher than 30% , not considering house is a smart guy, and know quite a bit about magic tricks( later scene shows him doing thumb flip).

second, the actor(magician) used or pretended to use a trick called "force pick" which makes the audience pick the card magician desires. It can be done in many different ways, in this case it is done by spacing rule. which is to fan cards and use middle finger to make a break on the card you want the audience to pick and make the space wider. worst way to force card imo, but for show purposes it used this way in the scene.

I am a semi-professional magician and card tricks are my favorites, cuz most of them can be performed anywhere with a normal deck of cards.

The tricked showed in this scene is possible, and impossible at the same time. By looking at some of the details it does relate to magic tricks some what.

why is it possible and impossible at the same time? first, the cards were there in the first place, 6 and king. So if the audience took a look there before the trick it wouldn't work.
