Oy! My band, "Root Boy Slim and the Sex Change Band", did a 40 date tour in '79, opening for the Blockheads. It was FANTASTIC!!! They were one of the best sounding, most polished, live bands ever. As much as I LOVE their records, I loved them LIVE, even more! They were ALL great mates, too!!! R.I.P. Ian and Root Boy. Ernie Lancaster

I know I should know but the guy at the end who gets on stage ( in the shades) looks really familiar. Who is he ? Saw them play City Hall Cork city, St Stephens night 1980. I've been to see hundreds of bands since and nothing comes close to that gig.

Madness are vitually proteges of Ian and they often cite him as a major influence on there style and sound,I think it was all done with love.
