Love Story Chapter 34



"Never Anna I can promise you that I will never let you go" Joseph said moving his head closer to hers "nothing and nobody could ever make me let go of you..." Joseph said and with that he tilted his head to the right not taking his eyes off of hers until he leaned even closer his lips gently colliding with hers.

"Promise?" She asked looking into his brown eyes

"Yes . . . I promise you Anna" he whispered.

That night Joseph watched as Annabell slept soundly on his chest. He brushed a loose strand of hair out of her face and watched as she moved even closer next to him.
He loved her, he knew that, and the fact that she had just given up everything that she every had for him, meant so much. Yet he had this doubt in the back of his mind as to whether or not he had done the right thing. He had taken her from her family, her friends, and her life, granted he had taken her away from Bernard that he knew was right, but yet he had to wonder. Even though her family seemed to despise him, in ten years maybe they would have came around. If he were to marry Annabelle and they had children, wouldn't her parents want to be grandparents, but now he had taken Annabelle away and he wasn't sure whether he would ever be accepted into her family. Maybe they could return, once they were married and settled, but yet he knew Bernard was not just a problem he was a threat. He was a threat to not only Joseph but to Annabelle. He has seen the way he treated her and at that moment he felt as if he would have no problem shooting him in his other shoulder. He felt confused and couldn't help but wonder why a man such as Bernard was accepted into her family, but yet he was not.
When he returned to New York to pick up his last payment he knew he would have to watch his back. Bernard seemed to have more spies than the army itself.
He hadn't told Annabelle he would need to return yet, he would once he got her to his family. She would love them as he does and he knew they would love her and treat her just as family. She would be safe there away from Bernard while he returned to the city for his last payment. He had quit his job and told he would be back for his last payment and with that payment he would finally be able to pay the last of his family's debt, the whole reason he had been in New York, in that crazy city in the first place, but as he looked at Annabelle asleep on his chest now. He couldn't help but feel as if all along he had been there for more than that reason. Annabelle knew nothing of his family's past and why he was so far from them, one day he would tell her. That and so much more, but for now as for today he would tell her the only truth she really needed to know, and that was that he loved her.
They still had a long trip ahead of them, and he hated that he couldn't provide her with a way of other than walking for the next day, but after that he had just enough for the train the rest of the way, but of course by than word of Annabelle's disappearance may already be spreading like a wild fire.
He knew Bernard wouldn't give up so easy, but he would not have a clue where to start looking.
He wrapped his arm around her a little tighter holding her close knowing that this was how he wanted to stay for forever.
He gently kissed her forehead and closed his eyes leaning his head against hers.
Everything would work out, everything would be just fine. As long as they were by each others side.
