Thanks for writing this. I've had exactly the same experience with rock music. When i started going to rock festivals I thought people went there for the music, but I discovered very many go just to drink themselves into oblivion for a few days. It's the same with the local rock club, there I am rocking away to the music and people are staggering around piss drunk around me.

@Blackscorpion1963 Not enough people truly have a passion for music and that frustrates me as I'd love to share the feeling. I was also into the house scene in the mid 90s and was as high as a kite and able to dance for hours on end. It took me a while to realise most people were on drugs and there was I high on the music!

@grizzadams2110 You've made my day. You've managed to put into words a feelings that I get whenever I listen to special music. You've brought a tear to my eye because it is only at those times when I'm truly happy and tingle all over. It reminds me of good times.
