Fan vid for the BBC adaptation of Under the Greenwood Tree, starring the wonderful James Murray and the lovely Keeley Hawes. I hoped to capture the sweetness and romance of the film. From the perspective of Dick Dewey.

Special thanks to Angela (Spikesbint) for helping me with the song.

  • I havent read this one from Thomas Hardy. I read most of his novels, i love them so much. Nice video. I like to read the book first before i watch the movie.

  • I read the novel after watching this film and I have to say I was kinda disappointed in Hardy. I liked the movie characterizations much more. I actually wrote an article on the subject.

  • I love this film. I saw it on bbc America and bought the DVD as soon as I could. It's wonderful. Thank you for this video.

  • You are very welcome. I love this film too.

  • Hi JaneJunkie..I can't get this film, but try and get hold of a Miss Marlpe dvd..if you haven't got it already called The Sittaford Mystery..if you thought he was handsome in this...!

  • I have that episode of Miss Marple with James. Great episode. Nothing like the book but still a good movie. Have you seen him in the Primeval series. ;)

  • Yes the book is not one of his best, although certainly the most optimistic. There isn't a huge amount of plot or characterization, which is atypical of Hardy. They did the dramatization very well.

  • Mmm, so lovely :P And thank you for introducing me to a great song

  • I really liked this movie but can somebody tell me why its called Under the Greenwood Tree? I haven't read the book, but nothing happened with the tree other than showing in the movie??!

  • @amber3358 Totally agree! :)
