  • I feel bad for Jack because the idea of losing a car after so long is so emotional.

  • Wow, Its the first time I've ever seen Normal (Mom) snapped off like that, period. She's really HOT!!!

  • Always amazes me how the wonder years pairs FANTASTIC music with the really emotional parts of the episode. Neil Young's "long may you run" is dead-on perfect in the scene where the family car is being towed off.

If only cars could talk. They see alot of things though the years, and shouldn't be discarded so readily. I'm glad to say that at 24 i'm still driving the same car I inherited when I was 14....My beautiful black cutlass......Long may you run!

  • They could have actually had a '63 station wagon to be more believable instead of one that was only one year older than the new car

  • I applaud Jack for trying to get the most out of things, like the car and the television set. He wasn't rich and understood the value of quality and a dollar.

Personally I find it disturbing how quickly people go through things these days: computers, cellphones, digital cameras, etc.

  • Its all kinds of practical messages in this show ! Sometimes you have to let go and move on and it hurts !

  • When we got my new car we had to get rid of our 26 year old Tercel of 246,000 miles. I just cried and cried when it was taken away from our driveway. I now get teary eyed whenever I hear "Long May You Run." This episode really hits home

  • Jack's actually a cool guy

  • @firedup643 Recall??!

  • This is my fave TWY episode. Love the way Jack stalls on everything for all sorts of reasons, but the truth all along was that he just didn't want to part with the car he raised his family in. Felt the same way when we offloaded our first family car.

  • the ridiculous part of this is that the car is not a 9-yr old car or a 1963 car but a 1968 Dodge Polara, which would've been just A YEAR old at this time (1969)!

  • The car = the family...
