The five pound (sterling) issued by the Northern Bank, based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It is made from polypropylene and has transparent sections.

It is the only banknote in the UK not made from wood pulp.

  • Sam do you still have the £100 note? Red as I recall. I did a deal with a guy who paid me with one - I thought that I had been duped when a pub in Coleraine wouldn't take it, but everyone in the bar wanted to look at it. It was real right enough, I changed it at the bank! Never heard tell of one since.
