Same sound in my 540 with ESS Vortech supercharger. May think it will break on idle,but nice sound when driving.

Moonknight66, you've asked every guy on youtube that has a supercharged 540i the same question. It's because that's how they sound. Plain and simple. You asked AsianImage the same thing about his video RoadWarrior - SuperCharged 540i Everytime you see a VF 540i, that's what you're going to hear. But they are bad ass! I've been in two and they just feel amazing. I went over 170mph in one before. Not much can touch these 540i's when you put a supercharger on them.

I have an answer . It's the bearings in the supercharger at idle. Once you give it any gas at all oil is fed from the engine and lubricates the bearings so much you can't hear them. That's it. Nothing wrong with the supercharger. But as you well know. Every VF supercharged 540i sounds like that. I've seen you ask them all the same question. No they don't come with a supercharger. It would have been awesome if they did. I agree. But the price would have been very high also.

fastest540i, I installed a V2 SQ supercharger on my 65 cobra and have the same identical chatter / rattle at idle. So it's not just on the 540i. When the weather gets nice here in Pa I will make a video and post it.

The reason i asked so many times is because VF engineering supercharger is the only supercharger to have that rattling noise at idle unlike dinan witch uses the same vortech supercharger sounds very crisp at idle. Just wondering if anyone had any reliability issues with the VF supercharger, but so far seems very positive. Just curious Fastest540i if you could make the same video but with the hood closed? It would be highly appreciated! can't wait to see some more video's this summer. Sick car!

Ah, you are brave M3King. Yes, these supercharged 540i's are fast but are incredible way deep in the triple digits. Way deep.
