For Mythbusters Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage, DIY isn't just for their Discovery Channel TV show—it's a way of life. Jamie and Adam guest edited the September issue of Popular Mechanics, and gave PM exclusive tours of their workshops. In this feature, the Mythbusters show us around, explaining the history of the show and demonstrating how they develop—and test—their favorite ideas.

  • Great shop, I worked in a job shop or model shop most of my life.

  • Was he on the spot? Kinda got that feeling.

  • "... If YOU got a shop, You can built anything!!! " - those are true magic words!!!

  • @dukestudentshop Adam frequently breaks rule 3 - in the 'Steam Cannon' episode of Mythbusters he destroys a 30 000 dollar lathe trying to build a wooden barrel and does not bother to clean up after he's done.

  • @dukestudentshop I know what you mean, I am attending a vocational school right now and there are people there that just go there to horse around, its ridiculous, the other day one of the kids drilled a hole in a piece of steel just the right size and threaded an air hose fitting on the other end and was shooting pens and pencils across the shop at his friends.

  • @astaschak You are probably right but I have always tried to make my students/ employees follow those rule. There is so much that goes on in a machine shop is its better to be safe than sorry. It only takes a few seconds to change a life if you are not careful.

  • @dukestudentshop to be honest, out of all the shops i've visited and been to, very few follow all three of those, and my #1 rule is: Don't trust anyone.

  • @ImOnProbation11 a mini wind turbine with huge wings

  • @leatherworkstation yes but renember how good and popular bridgeport is
