  • This version was way better than the stupid 1980 version. the 1980 version has nothing to do with the awesome book.

  • This is so awesome, I loved the book and the movie was so terrible. But wow the mini series is so awesome, I need more clips!!! Steven Weber is better the jack Nicholson

  • yes, kurbrick's film was not true to the novel or it's meaning at all. i enjoyed kubrick's film because i enjoy Jack N.'s acting. and the movie itself was well done as a movie. have you seen the mini series though? it truly brings justice to the book, which i have read.

  • Kubrick's film forgets that more often than not the tormentor is also tormented. The Shining was written with the intention of Jack being a flawed but decent human being. There is little to no decency in Nicholson's Jack Torrance. Certainly no redemptive qualities as far as his son and wife are concerned.

  • i said that a year ago, my point of view and opinion has became more intelligent so i apologize for my ignorance. I probly was talking about how the ending was dramatically changed emotionally and physically from the book. The movie from the 80's seems to not be as emotional as the genius book by King. That's why he didn't like it because of how it was changed to make Jack look like an unrelenting savage when in the book, he was just slipping away and killed himself for his son.

  • Really? If there's no connection between the book and the 1980 version, then I suppose you can tell me why the characters has the same names and the plot is the same?

  • it is! about jack slowly slipping away and how it affects his family. danny finds jack at the end and the fact that jack remains inside the madmad is what makes it so sad.
