@kenpoka65 Great answer. So true.

@clearcombat I have trained krav. It was designed to teach soldiers valuable info that will save lives in a short amount of time. It is very basic and argues that suffistication is not praticle because fine motor skills are the 1st thing to go when the S**t hits the fan. Kenpo is much more soffisticated in Ideas and fightings concepts. I have used kenpo 4 times in real life fight situations (once against 2 people) and it works great for me. Learn krav if you don't want to dedicate time for mor

@shadjazz training partners that pose are for beginners and for demonstration so that what is being done can clearly be seen. After the techniques become second nature to you the person can through what they want and all that changes are the target (ex. backknuckle to head might become a block). Obviously, he his demonstrating a technique. It is appearent to me that this is not Mr Tatum's training. If you try to talk without learning the language all that comes out is noise.

Not a fan of training partners that pose.

@clearcombat your statements are nowhere near grounded in fact. How you were as a kenpo student is no reflection on kenpo in general. I never had trouble with point fighting, or the myraid people who came in off the street, boxers, muy thai kick boxers, whatever. if you really understand your method of fighting, its all good. obviously, u didn't understand the kenpo concepts. Which is okay, kenpo is an amazing system, when used properly. hope your training in krav goes better.

The fact remains that it doesn't matter if you love Kenpo or hate it. Because Larry Tatum has accomplished more in Martial Arts, in Life, in Business, and in fighting than all us viewers combined? He's 10th degree, Trained with Parker, lives in a beautiful part of the world, makes lots of money, does what he loves, personally trains celebrities, teaches all over the world, makes DVD's, etc...etc...I know he blows me out of the water---How about you?

@Tzaolu A Kenpo fighter would not even last in a point fighting tournament. I use to study Kenpo and now I am joining a Krav Maga school. The students are all explosive fighters.
-
@Tzaolu Absolutely right. I have great respect for all MMA fighters. But, although it purports to be the closest thing to real fighting, it is not what you would encounter on the street where there are no rules or refs. Real street fights are over in seconds, not minutes. In order to survive a violent attack by an aggressor, I will not hesitate to strike throat, eyes, groin, temple, anything to stop the aggression.(In accordance with all laws etc. etc.)
-
go fight him then! i dare you!

I like this Video and can see the benifit's to others who study it.
Actually nerds, a kenpo stylist is not allowed to use the majority of his Kenpo techniques in the ring, since most of the Targets that we use are not allowed by MMA by-laws. throat and neck shots, back of the head, the spine, limb destruction, strikes against the joints, groin shots, all these are not legal in the ring. Most of the Kenpo shots go to these targets with the intent of ending a fight before it really begins.
