Yay! This seems weird but actually is good!

You need:
1 cup azuki beans, red beans, or black beans
4 cups water x2
1/2 cup sugar

Put beans and water in a bowl and let soak over night. In the morning, transfer both beans and water into a pot and boil on medium for 1/2 hour. Remove any floaty beans and drain. Replace 4 cups of water and boil on low for 1 1/2 hours or until the beans are so soft you can smash them without any effort. Drain them again, mash them, add sugar, mash again. TA-DA~

    Canned beans will work just fine. You don't have to cook them, just add the sugar :]

  • i saw a video on how to make ichigo daifuku (cookingwithdog) and their anko stuff was all..firm. do you just stick the beans in the fridge? wouldn't it be..oh i don't know, lumpy? xD

  • i think anko means sh*t in japanese so we're making crap jk looks good

  • When I make an I usually take the uncooked an and mix them in to a fried-ish paste in a pan. They taste better cooked, if you didn't know that. They're more fatty, though, because you use... I think 3/4 of a cup oil when you're frying them.
