His feet clearly leave the ice AFTER impact. That is legal. Its impossible to lay a check like that in open ice and not leave your feet due to the impact.

I agree. Richards did exactly what you are supposed to do with a player that is skating the puck to the middle.  His intent was not to injure, it was to separate Booth from the puck. Booth was admiring his pass and unfortunately the speed of the game leaves little room for error and he paid for it.
