You think Will Robinson and Penny would beat them at actual chess? On Lost in Space chess was considered a child's game. LOL

@Radioflyer911 — True. Basically, all Wah Chang did was to assemble a cool looking prop which would not only look nice but allow the actors to simply move the pieces around on the board and have it not look like they're just doing so at random but playing by a different set of rules for a different type of board. The Star Trek production office would have gotten far too many letters from real chess players who'd know the actors didn't know the game.

There was a TNG episode involving Q and a girl who was a young Q coming of age, this episode really reminds me of that one.
