This is a quick video, showing you how to install ATI drivers in 3 different ways. It should be pretty easy on most systems, but it can be a bit tricky to do on some pc's and thats why I posted this. I hope everyone enjoyed this video!

AMD Wesite: http://www.amd.com/se/Pages/AMDHomePage.aspx

ATI Drivers: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

  • Thanks You for the video! I am using AMD HD 6950 graphics card and I installed Linux Mint 12. There is something wrong with the properitary drivers, so I installed officiall ones from AMD site by Your instructions. Everything went fine, but now it seem to system runs slower than before... It simply doesn't go so smooth as before installing drivers. Do You have any idea why is that for?

  • @MetalxShredder600 If you're spending someone ELSE's money: Intel. Hyper-threading is pretty neat. nVidia on the other hand, well, they just have nothing ATI can't match.

  • I just want to Say Thank you, I have been trying to figure out how to do this, and could only find people telling how to use the command line and it just wasn't working.

  • hey friend. when i install ubuntu it has 1024x768 resolution but when i install ati drivers and reboot my pc my lcd says out of range. i saw that the minimun resolution of ubuntu is 1980x1080 but my lcd is 1280x1024 please tell me how to start ubuntu on the 1280x1024 resolution as default please help.

  • @UbuntuHelpGuy I have AMD, ATI. I also now can't use my system. the new driver failed 100% so no GUI at all

I've been told to try editing /etc/X11/xorg.conf

or to run dpkg --reconfigure xorg

sound right? Things seem to go very wrong very fast any time I try to change drivers & then it's irreversibly ruined...

  • @resuort No I didn't, dumbass. I bought my laptop BRAND-NEW 4+ years ago because MY SCHOOL FORCED ME TO BUY IT. I DIDN'T HAVE A CHOICE. By the time I took my Computer Graphics course 3 years later, ATi had dropped support for my card, and I didn't know about it. There were several others in my class with the same laptop and the EXACT same problem. I switched back to Windows; another kid just didn't do that assignment (he won't touch windows with a 10-foot pole).

  • @Teraforce88 Wait... you mean to tell me, you bought a 4 year old work station graphics card for a school project, and then put it in a platform that AT THAT TIME ATi was known to neglect? Did you walk to school in the rain, naked, backwards, while holding a metal rod too? Don't get me wrong I am fucking pissed because I have spent 7 hours trying to get Ubuntu 11.10 to install drivers for my HD6790, but its not AMD's fault.

  • hey mate, can you help me installing or using ati and intel drivers for hybrid graphibcs desktop?

  • @imtanator i got this too just Plug the Computer into your bogtest avaiable tv

    Sorry for Bad English

  • Hello!

Is there a way I can get proper drivers for my Ati Radeon 9800SE that will run on newer Ubuntu systems? The Ati legacy driver only supports up to Ubuntu 9.04.

    Thanks in advance!
