double stops on 4:51 really pull on my heart strings. This piece is one of all time favorites!
-
@itapirkanmaa I totally agree with you!!

This is right up there with the best performances of this incredible work. It's amazing to me that so many critics of his time considered Sibelius to be a minor composer. So much for the critics! This is the piece that set me into a lifelong love of classical music. Thank you, Jean Sibelius!

Sibelius has "a special feel for this work"
himself. He was the greatest composer of our
time.Or IS.
-
@itapirkanmaa I think so too. Absolutely.
-
@Lodizodi: Tempo is relative and depends on the Hall. you don't know how the acoustic of the hall was so how do you know it was too slow?
-
Crapy sound quality. Pity

Fantastic. He has a special feel for this work.
This guy is not human. He has came from somewhere in the Universe to show us how to play the violin.

Nobody on the planet has ever played this concerto better than the young Kavakos. If you can afford only one violin album in your life, see the BIS catalogue with him and Vänskä / Lahti SO.
