This was one of the first movie trailers I was hired to voice (I had done Fast Times at Ridgemont High several months before). Moves was a 1983 release. Tom Cruise had been in Taps in '81 and then shot The Outsiders, Losin' it, this film and Risky Business in '82/83. Pretty much the year that launced his career. Do I sound young? now I know where all these 80's losers got the idea to tape their necklaces to their chests during a game-I think most of them only had the necklace so they could tape it. How stupid. It like all these kids today with dreadlocks and underarmor. no originality.
hahah my civics teacher is in this movie!! no lie!!! he is the one with the big 80s hair on the football team! they filmed this all over johnstown and they used the school football uniforms and the westmont marching band was in it!!!!!!!!!
downhill ever since Top Gun? Cocktail, Jerry McGuire, Mission Impossible, Last Samurai = classics. I liked Collateral, I thought it was decent and watchable. I thought Vanilla Sky was also good. But to say downhill since Top Gun, that's a bit of a reach. Maybe it's because Top Gun was so great that your expectations of him when in another movie were so high and because of that - the other movies he was in weren't as great as Top Gun (if that made sense) that's probably why you say that
