338 EDGE

This was the first testfire for the new .338 EDGE built by Greg Duley and the team at NZ Hunter.

Barrel is a Broughton 5c 1:10 twist finished at 30". Brake is made by Kirby Allen and is called the "Painkiller".

It fires the 300 grain Sierra Matchking with an impressive BC of .768

The brake is extremely efficient and reduced the recoil to about that of a .243. To be fair the shot videoed was the 92 grain load and I worked up to 94 grains of H1000 with a little more recoil.

If anyone in New Zealand is considering building an EDGE I have a reamer and gauges available for hire.

I'd say the Lapua is a little bit better/faster, but also more expensive. The .338 EDGE on the other hand is cheaper and still has amazing performance compared to the Lapua. Also the .338 EDGE uses a .300 RUM brass necked up. This is what I've picked up from reading about it. I hope I'm not wrong.
