I think lots of people don't get Annie's makeup or her clinging to Bowie. The makeup is a mask, the old Opera Mask from long ago, only there's no stick and it's panted on. An old symbol of elegance. And though it's not what the song is about, at the point where she clings to him passionately, they're singing of this being their 'last dance', the end of a relationship, while he remains cold and aloof. Just a bit of theatrics, but I think one of the top memorable moments of rock music history.

also - Freddie Mercury, the flamboyant, dramatic stage presence, frequently dressed as a harlequin. IMHO her stage persona (in dress and manner) was paying homage to that. And David Bowie was pure class (usually he is the wildly dressed flamboyant one). Very classy on them both. Just Brilliant

I didn't like Lennox, and she sounds forced, she can't hit the notes properly, Bowie can do it better, but not this time. Sorry, but the non musicians vote negative my comment because I didn't like this performance... they're so ignorant and they have closed their mind. And by the way, I'm not a Queen hater if all of you think this.

At the end of the song she wants to devour Bowie.

You can see how much he feels pressured about it.
