This video shows Elisia aligning a large straight edge to true North using the jig she made by locating a shed on the land on Google Earth (see Building a Papercrete Pyramid: Part 1). Later, she made a plywood jig (see Building a Papercrete Pyramid: Part 2) which she placed on the actual shed (see Building a Papercrete Pyramid: Part 3) that allows her to find true North anywhere on the land.

  • i would just mark it off using a transit at night to the pole star...

  • I thought all you had to do to find true north was use a compass and factor in the magnetic declination. Seems to me it would be way easier and wouldn't have all the potential errors resulting from all the drawn lines that were eyeballed.
