SoundCheck Episode 04.18.98 (Second Half of show). The original footage of the downtown Athens, GA show from the show creator. Dave Schools (really sweet guy) had seen SoundCheck, and because we were local TV, he allowed us to have full access to him and the concert. The show was shot April 1998 with two Betacam-SP cameras and edited on a Sony linear edit suite patched through Video Toaster software. I think I ran the intro and bumpers through an AE plugin called Film Damage as well. This is one of the many shows I produced for my no budget channel (ONTV) on local cable in Athens, GA. Kitty Snyder did a great job, as always, making the interview interesting and the crowd bits fun. Atlanta news channels were running a story about a disgruntled mother of the bride. She was angry that the concert might interfere with her daughter's wedding, scheduled for the same day. The rock show prevailed. Unfortunately, I had no idea just how many thousands of people the concert would draw. It was unbelievable. I got permission from Drew Dekle (the owner of the building down from the 40 Watt) to get on the roof. Right before the concert began, I panned down the street.......fans packing the streets of downtown Athens, GA as far as the eye can see. I was always disappointed in this episode of SoundCheck. It could have been so much more....but we had a lot of fun. - Theo
