@AyrtonSennaGODsPilot But I think it's fair to say to say he lucked into his wins in 1992 and 1993 somewhat (Mansell pitting unexpectedly in 1992, Schumacher retiring from comfortable lead with hydraulic failure in 1993) - 6 wins is a fair reflection of his awesome talent

It's amazing: there is simply NO image of Senna crashing in Monaco 1988. He had so much advantage over Prost, so it must have been boring for the cameras showing Senna when he crashed. With all do respect for Ayrton, but an image of Senna crashing in Monaco 88 is just like Santa Claus: does not exist.

"and...
...THAT IS SENNA!"

Did we ever see what happened? I don't ever recall seeing anything of this incident other than Senna's car against the barrier and him climbing out. I have watched countless GPs over the years but for some reason this one (with Nigel Mansell earlier getting punted off by Alboreto) sticks in the mind more than most.

@bradgotch 3 seconds? The legend grows all the time - it was 1.427 seconds.

Senna said after this crash, that it made him (mentally) even stronger.

Schiaccia Ayrton, schiaccia...tira, tira....sublime Alain

Senna, prost, best, and shumacher the dirtiest ...
Senna was just superb and i think that second place gave him more support than a possible victory. He was the hero. I remember a reporter saying "we will hear much more from this brazilian". I am not convinced he would win that race considering the fragility of Toleman-Hart Turbo. that was a banana. So have to accept that race as it was. It was the first time Senna drove a F1 race in wet, the second wet race was Estoril 85 and we know the result...

“The mistake I made changed me psychologically and mentally. I changed a lot inside. It gave me the strength and power to fight in critical moments… It brought me closer to God than I have ever been.”
