I have two and keep them in a 16' X 20' enclosure with a 6' high fence on the back of the house, with a dog door in the laundry room so they can go in and out. Mine are a lot more muscular and brawney than the skinny twiggy sibes you see today so I don't have to worry about them climbing the fence. It is important to walk them at least once a day which I do when I get home from work. They need the mental stimulation of smelling the markings of other dogs on the walk as well as the excercise.

@vasiberianhusky Maybe i am just very lucky to have that rare one . :)

@vasiberianhusky Well , mine is the pure one... And i let him off leash all the time, today we go to the river, and he was off leash 3-4 hours , there was lots of people working and some with dogs, and if my husky look and start to run to them i just call him and he first stops and look at them, like he realy want to go , and then turns back and comes to me. I think evry husky will do that if u let him to be free lots of time. Evry day for 1-2 hours, and he will be great.

NUMBER ONE RULE WHEN BUYING A HUSKY!!!! NEVER LEAVE A DOOR OPEN THAT LEADS TO OUTSIDE, YOUR HUSKY WILL RUN AND ITS HARD TO GET THEM BACK, ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY ARE YOUNG (1-2 YEARS OLD(in human years.)).
CAN I HAVE A WOOT WOOT FOR THAT!!!!!
P.S. now that my copper toned husky is older she easier to catch.
tips on to how to catch your husky is:
ask a friend (someone who isnt familiar with your husky) and make that person pretend to beat you up, for some reason it worked every time

@mobilepsycho i call bullshit...your husky do not need to be on a leash at all times...i walk mine off leash daily in a city just make sure u buy the pup 6-12 weeks old and you will be alright...you have to break a husky out of its independent streak early...a shock collar will easily do this

i leave my husky alone in the house he hasnt destroyed anything.... its really how you raise em besides the fact there really hyper dog they will always stay that way unless there fat haha =p
I have a husky, and if u train them well, they will newer run awaiy when they are off leash. Just in the begining use a dog treats (some food), as a reward when they come to u on ur call, and soon they will came evry time , no mater what they are chaisng or so. They are wery great dogs, if u treath them well, u will be rewarded for that !

@MICROffice Honestly with all of the Siberians I've trained over the years it's extremely rare to find a Siberian, especially a pure Siberian, that will come on called when they're on the chase or they get away off leash. Most will play the game of "catch me if you can" letting you get close then darting off again.
I would HIGHLY recommend most owners don't let them off leash unless you have tons, and I mean TONS of land for them to roam and not encounter any roads, hunters, etc.

many walks and as much outdoor play as possible
always on a leash
never leave free in the home without supervision, even one minute....
follow these basics...and you'll have a wonderful experience with a beautiful creature

The leaving out alone thing really depends on the dog but for the most part, the high energy of a Siberian can make it easily bored and get into "trouble."
