G20 Protests 1st April 09, London. I took this footage some time between 7.10pm and 7.15pm in the Royal Exchange Passage, on my way home from work (I wasn't a protester.) I had to cut it short, unfortunately, so that I could get myself out of the way of the riots.

Edit: The last half second of this video seems to have been cut off since I uploaded it. It's blurry, but in the original file, you can just make out a policeman grabbing someone by the neck or lapels and throwing them to the ground, just before I stopped videoing.
Edit no.2: Kadaveri has kindly fixed this and reuploaded the video with the last second intact. Watch it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9126tPzgvI&feature=channel_page
Edit no.3: The video has now been posted on the Guardian website. They have slowed down the last few seconds, so you can clearly see the person being thrown the the ground by a policeman: http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/video/2009/apr/15/g20-protest-police-bank
Other videos (mine included) showing police actions against protesters can be viewed on this page: http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2009/apr/15/g20-protest-police-videos-catalogue
Edit no.4 (22nd April 09): Channel 4 have done some excellent detective work and have concluded that the policeman at the very end of my video (the one who grabs the person and throws her/him to the ground) is very likely the same man who pushed over Ian Tomlinson. This policeman also appears to be involved in several other violent incidents prior to the attack on Mr Tomlinson. Their findings can be viewed on their site for the next week: http://www.channel4.com/news/

  • I saw that Channel 4 report too man. I must have watched this video 15 times I can't believe I didn't spot it but now I'm sure it's the same policeman who attacked Mr Tomlinson. Channel 4 did a great job in piecing together all that footage.

  • It does indeed look like it's got to be the same man. It's good that Channel 4 have amassed all this extra evidence of his activities - shows that it wasn't a momentary lapse in judgement at the end of a long day that led to him lashing out at Ian Tomlinson (as I've seen some suggest), but consistent violent behaviour throughout the day.

  • Hye mate see channel four ran with this as part of their report tonight.. and guess what that cop is the same one who assaulted Ian Tomlinson

  • Yeah, I was watching - that was some excellent detective work by Channel 4.

  • This video is on the guardian website now (amongst others). Good work.

  • Yeah, I sent it to them over the weekend. Cheers.
