With just bass, drums, keys and guitar, this badass foursome weaves in and out of grooves and themes like they were born to do it, with an eye towards thoughtful improv and, especially, mating genres and dragging their children up on stage. Its not uncommon, in fact, for dudes at a Doc E. show to remark that "These cats sound like John Scofield and King Tubby jamming at the Flaming Lips' house!" Doc Ellis have rocked at UMass Amherst, in Amherst, MA, and at famed NYC venues like Kenny's Castaways, Coda, Knitting Factory and the Lion's Den, where they performed as part of the 2006 CMJ Music Marathon. They have shared the stage with notable acts like Papa Mali, Jounce, NBFB, Topaz, Moonshine Still, Licorice and The Breakfast.
