  • The best team unfortunately couldnt overcome the officials this night....Sean May is the only player in championship history to commit 7 offensive fouls and still finish the game.

  • @spm1021- and Illinois is the only team in championship history to get away with about 6 (if not more) moving screens that got them back into the game the second half.

  • @ChainGangSoulja266 Sean May got away with 20 offensive fouls. James Augustine was Illinois's best inside and he played a total of 11 minutes do to the BS calls. If he was actually PART of the game, I see Illinois winning by 15 if not more. Regardless of their moving screens you claim to see.

  • @iDominatemkwii- 20 fouls is a vast overstatement. Many of them were complete flops by the illini defenders (the play on this vid with powell flopping when may get's the ball on the break is a perfect example). And read the other comments on here, or watch the full game (and listen to the announcers call moving screens during the game), there were many moving screens that were not called. It was a fair game, the refs let both teams play. And there is no way Illini wud have ever beat em by 15

  • @iDominatemkwii-If these teams played 10 times, i see Carolina winning 6-7 of the matchups. They were by far the most talented team in the tourney, and plus Illinois shot 30+ 3's. Roy Williams teams (espicially with a point guard as fast as Felton) push the ball relentlessly, they have no half court offensive set, their offense is run the break, even on makes. Illini had NO LEGS for jumpers at the end of the game from runnin all day. I'm not looking for an internet argument, but I live in CHI...

  • @iDominatemkwii and i have heard, and beaten every argument illini fans have made for this game. Illini lost, fair and square. I liked this Illini team too, they were crazy unselfesh, and their offense was beautiful to watch. But they were just out classed by UNC that game, you can't beat a team like UNC if you take 30+ 3's, and don't go inside to get May in foul trouble.

  • U mad Illini?

  • Favorite championship game off all time!

  • @spm1021 the amount of talent carolina had compared to illnois in this game is laughable (aside from darren williams he is a talent for sure). they were winning the whole game and took care of business at the end. all illinois did was live and die by the three, and died by it at the end.

  • I disagree..Illinois was the best team that whole tear...now NC had some great players but...this is not about that. This is about officials taking out the only BIG MAN on Illinois early in the game to allow NC to pad their lead...knowing full well the three ball which got Illinois there could not make up the deficit...and still it almost did. do think the best "team" was shortchanged but Roy Williams was the objecive that nite anyway...give him a NCAA mens championship for being a nice guy.

  • @spm1021 lol...i was so glad they didn't call those flops... The better team was North Carolina... and how about all those moving screens by Illinois as well.

  • @spm1021 HELL YESS! thank you!

  • Best game I've ever been to

  • Yeah you are right.....people are "always" fouling out in the 1st half....whos the loon now? They dont foul out in the 1st half of any game yet a CHAMPIONSHIP game. Trust me...this was Roy Williams "thanks for coaching 25 years " present. and they still almost won...Illinois was truly the winner of that game...people who know basketball know that.

  • @spm1021 your a loon. UNC clearly had the most talent. In a national championship game they are not going to give you flop calls. yall tried to pull the ole lets play like dook and it crapped on you.

  • Thats true...you are not alone my friend. The better team did not win this night but what is amazing is how they came back to tie a game while they were fighting the officials all night long. Roy Williams got his "thanks for coaching 20 years without yelling profanity at us officials" by be giving the greatest gift of all...14 non-calls against Sean Mays and pinning the ticky tack on Augestine everytime he got near the ball. Its amazing but I dont recall Augestine fouling out in 2005 in any game
