Yeah mate. That was just a couple laps from the day, of which we got a total of 2 session and roughly 35 laps total. Best time clocked by data aquisition was 1:00.8. Tough to get a clear track.
First time seeing the track and on 8 month old worn slicks, I didn't feel like pushing it and risking a crash. Now that I have an idea of the track and in race conditions with good rubber, taking another 3 seconds shouldn't be an issue.
Well next time you go get some footage as I would like to see an onboard 56second lap as the fastest onboard I have seen is a 58, i think 58seconds is more realistic for your second attempt. I dont use slicks, I use racetecs and know they are good for 2 years as long as you dont leave them in the sun.
Hey Deano. I've seen plenty of 56's and 57's from the club racers. Even faster for the BSB boys.
As for my tyres, I think you mis-understood. I was running on slicks I had raced on last year. They already had a good 30 or so laps on them, and I usually don't like to run on tyres that old and that used, but knew I would be taking it easy for my first time at Mallory. Even still, there was a few moments of loss of traction. I usually run 3 seconds faster in race pace over trackday times. We'll see
Well, my forks snapped on me after 7 laps going into the hairpin under heavy braking.
My best time according HOTTRAX was 1:00.006 in those few laps. It's too bad, cause I was just getting used to the track.
Unfortunately, they won't allow filming of race events without written permission from the track owner? I don't know what that is all about? Next up is Snetterton in 3 weeks. I'll learn the track on Friday and race Sat. Don't even know what kind of times are good there?
I took it easy. I was on tires I raced with back in August, had never been to the track before, bike had just been tuned and quickshifter set up and we only had 2 sessions, thanks to a big accident by the side cars early in the day.
All in all, not bad for the limited time on track. I figure 56-57 should be easily achievable next time out.
you were doing 1m2s in that vid, getting down to 56s laps isnt easy mate that is what all the race winners at mallory do on that layout.
Im not saying you can't do it but talk is cheap! good luck

Nice to see you took your speed overseas with ya! Not quite as crazy as your CA track videos, but still good viewing.
