Thanks, I hope you do more ... like 3D Titles using just the layouter. and motion overlays.
I see the responses you have gotten, but your explanation of how & why makes it a powerful learning tool no matter what you call the effect

bad tutorial, this effects made chrominance.

i think it can also be done with combine filters right?

edius efx are still the best! easier to use

In AVID Media Composer or FCP this effect would take a fraction of the time. I'm working in Edius for the first time now and I can't understand what the buzz is about besides it's codec abilities and somewhat fast rendering. Other than that the program is frustrating to use. I've never been a fan of canned effects. This helps though.

Wow. What a pain in the ass! You have to make the matte first, export it as a clip, take the clip and export it as a clip, then combine the two. This should be a ONE STEP PROCESS right in the original timeline! O M G!

Awesome, really appreciate it ! :) Done most of my stuff on Edius.
It's not that the render is somewhat faster. You don't have to render at all just export thats saves a lot of time. I came from Avid Liquid and Edius is very close to Liquid, I bought Media composer 5 watch a month of tutorials and decided not to install. To much work to do simple edits just compare multicam in Edius to MC5. Edius is easy to Multicam.

There is a quicker way to do a pleasantville effect. This video was really about creating an alpha matte.
