(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kATR21FoGBc) Companion Video If you think this way your in trouble !
Police Officers have the Highest Rates of Divorce, Alcoholism, Domestic Violence, and Suicides . Although it is difficult to get accurate statistics, studies consistently show this fact. Depending on the study:

Their divorce rate is 60-70% higher than the national average
Their alcoholism rate is 2 times the national average
Their domestic violence rate is among the highest of all professions
Their suicide rate is 3 times the national average.

When you become a law enforcement officer, the one thing you cease to represent is yourself! Your goals, your agenda, your opinions, and your ego are irrelevant to the accomplishment of the police mission. And the moment you start thinking that you do represent yourself is the moment you set yourself up for an ethical failure.

In our system of government, civil authority originates with the people. The people, in turn, delegate some of this power to the government by virtue of the Constitution. Some of that delegated power is the power to legislate. Some of that legislation confers authority onto the Office of Sheriff, or perhaps the Police Chief or other executive in your case. As leaders, we then delegate our authority down the line to the officer on the street or the deputy in the jail.
Since these entities have the right to impose obligation on others, we refer to them as authorities. They are what we represent, not ourselves.

We have a human tendency, I think, to resist those that are in power over us, to view them as being oppressive in nature, something to be avoided. Just one more person trying to rule our lives and keep us from doing what we want to do.

This is an incorrect view. Authorities are not designed to be oppressive in nature. They are designed to be protective in nature. The fundamental role of any authority is to protect those that are under their care from harmful and evil influences.

Aligning yourself properly with the entities you represent protects you from a variety of dangers including liability, prosecution, punishment, injury, and the consequences of your poor decisions. In certain circumstances, they even protect you from death.

An Independent Spirit

Regretfully, many of our officers have "stepped out from under authority." They have developed an Independent Spirit. This is an attitude that separates them from the authorities that Society has placed in their life. The life of an Independent Spirit is characterized by personal conflict as his desires collide with those of his authorities.

Out of this "Stronghold of Pride" flow certain predictable patterns of behavior that I call the Path of Destruction. The life of an Independent Spirit is characterized by personal conflict as his desires collide with those of his authorities. You can typically spot this officer because he tends to take things that happen to him very personally. Even a violation of the law can become a personal offense to this officer. He follows patterns. Among these patterns are Arrogance, Misconduct , Abuse, Complaints, Lawsuits, Corruption, Moral Decay, Immorality, Divorce, Addiction, Violence and Death.

  • Lord you can find snjbisk on all these cop pages. Get over it dude. Your a bad cop. Go to sleep already.

  • SJPD 1386 officers total.Only 540 on patrol 24/7.The other 2/3rds work inside.25 to 60 complaints filed each month on those 540.Hundreds each year and none sustained and you can't see the records.

  • LOL ! please dude! "3 pupmps of the Mossberg". Another Charles Bronson. Just in that one statement alone I can tell what kinda person you are, and thank god you aren't a cop! Listen, your "info to the right" is as convoluted as the thoughts in your head. In the other video you say how we need more cops cuz they can't do the excellent job they want to for us due to thier low population. That i agree with, but man, youre a mess.

  • Any so called "police officer" who willfully and consistently violates his/her oath of office, or sits idly by laughing as his/her fellow traitors do willfully and consistently violate said oath of office are negating their office and should be forcefully removed.

They are an organization of lying traitors who get paid way too much to set a bad example for the citizenry. Then they pretend they have a dangerous job, but it's due to years of abusing power.

  • @NateJaeger2 Have you ever heard of priority? If there is a shooting the police are going to respond to that instead of responding to a stupid call for a party or something of that nature. I don't know where you live but 911 doesn't have voicemail in California, or the rest of the country for that matter.

  • Unemployable? No credentials? What are you talking about? Go the SJPD website, or any California Police or Sheriff website, and look at the requirements for hire with any of these agencies. Many agencies, including SJPD, require you to have a college education and a clean criminal background. Oh, SJPD doesn't use the mossberg shotgun and they DO have to respond to calls for service unless it's something of low priority that can be reported online or by phone.

  • @NateJaeger2 What unit were you in when you were in The Corps? Oh, it's interesting that you never, ever had an IA complaint. Hard to believe with 31 years on with ANY agency. Especially when people file frivolous complaints against officers for any contact they have with the police. You must be the first in the nation to have retired with a squeaky clean record, huh? You're a freaking joke..

  • Its sad to see people so single minded. But like my father told me, its jsut the way they were brought up.
