Shark Finning in Hong Kong.

Shark Finning contributes only to small extent for the killing of sharks (73 million sharks killed each year only for fins) while sharks are also killed for jewelry (shark's teeth), jaws for tourist souvenirs, skin for leather wallets/belts, cartilage for capsules and powders for phony medicinal cures and liver oil for cosmetics/skin care products....... And don't forget the by-catch, long lining, and all the rubbish we smart humans throw out into the oceans.

@bheta2k See, that's the thing. perhaps it wouldn't be such a big issue if the people would kill and bring back the whole shark instead of just throwing it back into the ocean. They are just killing the sharkds for their fins. Shark's fin also contains tons of mercury. it is incredibly unhealthy.

A 100,000,000 sharks die from shark finning every year. If you think that this does not cause a decline in shark population you must be pretty bad at maths or live on another planet.
